27th January 2012:

The current series of Focus Workshops is now fully booked - please email me to add your name to a waiting list, in case anybody is unable to attend on 4th or 15th February. Booking is currently open for the Day Courses in May on writing, editing, publishing and marketing and I'll announce new Focus Workshop topics soon.

11th January 2012:

The winter series of Focus Workshops starts soon. Booking for Cracking Openings on 21st January closes on 18th January. A Sense of Place is on 4th February (booking closes 1st February) and The Inner Lives of Characters is on the 18th February (booking closes on the 15th February). Places are already very limited, so cross to my Focus Workshops page to find out more.

13th December 2011:

The autumn Focus Workshops were a great success, particularly Dynamic Dialogue. I've just posted details of the next block of workshops on the Focus Workshop page. Do cross over and take a look - and remember, I keep the class size small, so don't leave it too late to make your booking!

28th October 2011:

Details of next spring's Day Courses are now up on the Course Dates and Details page. Remember, if you want to book a place on the first of my Focus Workshops (Sourcing and Growing Ideas, 5th November), you need to make your booking by 2nd November!

October 2011:

I'm delighted to announce that booking is now open both for my spring Day Courses (Write It!, Edit It!, Publish It! Market It!) and for my new Focus Workshops in November and December. There is an Early Bird booking price for the day courses and discounts are available for the workshops if you book more than one at a time.

On 8th October I'll be appearing at the Calderdale Writers' Roadshow. I'll be giving a talk, 'Why Write Fiction?' at the Central Library in Halifax, as part of the Fiction Writing Day. I had a great (if exhausting!) time at Winchester and welcome all those who are now on my mailing list. Next up, teaching a summer school for Oxford University's Department for Continuing Education Summer School Programme, starting on Saturday. People attending from Missouri and Indonesia, Belgium and Brazil!

20th June 2011:

Great news - if you wish to book both of my spring day courses, you'll pay the reduced fee of £150 for both rather than £170!

I'm delighted by the number of bookings coming in for the May courses - and it's only February!

Remember, if you want to book either of my May courses, do so before 28th February for my special Early Bird price of £75 - after that the course fee will be £85.

7th January 2011:

Booking is now open for my spring courses! On 7th May, Writing your Novel - Essential Story Construction and on 21st May, Creating Narrative Perspective and Voice. SPECIAL EARLY BIRD PRICE:  the course fee is £85 but there is a special reduction for early bookings. Until 28th February you can book at the special price of £75 (which includes refreshments and a course pack, collectively worth £16).

Once again, a lovely group of students attended last Saturday's Shape Up and Make your Pitch course. My next Day Courses at Trinity will take place in May - but look out for an exciting new type of course starting in the New Year! Keep an eye on the website for announcements!

New fictionfire courses will be running in early May, which is one of the best months for visiting Oxford. I'll be finalising dates shortly - keep the 1st, the 8th and the 15th free!

My first two courses, on getting started as a novelist and on plotting, have now run - thank you, all of you, who attended. It was lots of fun and totally exhausting! I am now looking forward to setting up courses in 2010, once more at Trinity College, which was a lovely venue.
